The color purple is rare in the natural world, most commonly appearing in late spring. That is whenflowering shrubs and trees reach peak blooming to dominate the landscape. It’s happening now in Lincoln Park!
Nature’s purple extravaganza is brief. It takes precise light and climate conditions for the required red and blue natural pigments to reflect purple. It is a complex color, and glorious. No wonder purple is traditionally associated with luxury, richness, and exclusivity on the one hand; and also spirituality, creativity, and mystery on a deeper level
I like to think of this blossoming as Nature’s Purple Parade. Blink, and you could miss this parade passing you by. Last week was no time to blink — if you happened to be in Lincoln Park. The purple parade is indeed in full swing.
There is time for you to join in on the wonder. Here are some of the parade floats going by. Natural wonders like this are your true home and birthright. This is your parade. Don’t blink!
